Redding California

Made it to Redding for the night.  Redding RV Park really nice place.  There was quite a bit of construction delays, but still made it in less than 6 hours.

Since we are just overnight, we didn't unhook, will relax the rest of tonight, and head for Burns Oregon in the morning.

Had a small mishap, be role out the back window on the truck trying to turn too sharp.  RV appears to be ok, truck has a dent next to the window 😡. Will have to get that fixed as soon as we get home, put plastic over it to get home.

Hopefully that is all the drama we have.  Tomorrow is another day.

Blustery day

Today we decided to spend here at the harbor. Saw whales this morning, went to town for gas and propane.  The wind kicked up to where it was impossible to sit outside for very long, even rocked the RV at times.  Watched a wind surfer towards evening. Kind of a lazy day.

Port Orchard

Today we drove up the coast, stopped at all the scenic places, took a walk on the beach, and visited Harper House as well as the lighthouse. The wind was ever present making it cooler, but the sun was out. Another great day on the coast.  We only went as far as Port Orchard, left around 10:00, got back around 3:30 for linner.  Time for wine, and the beach.

Redwood forest

Today's adventure we went to the redwood forest. It's only 30 or so miles from here.  We hit construction, but the delay was not as bad as it could have been.  It was an awesome day, even took a quick hike into the Forrest. Saw a small herd of elk, laughed that we came this far from home to be up close!

Ended up with DQ for dinner, not bad.  Stopped at Walmart for a few things, back home for a walk on the beach.

Oregon coast

We have arrived at the coast!  What a wonderful drive it was from Crater Lake.  We went through a tunnel on the California side, and stopped at the rest stop for lunch.  There was a young girl there, walking her cat on a leash.  Don't see that every day.

We are staying in Brookings Oregon at Beachfront RV.  The spaces as really close, but we are right next to the ocean.  Even got to see a few spouts.. perfect day, even had pizza for dinner!

Crater Lake

Well, we learned a valuable lesson, watch TV he check in time.  We arrived from Burns around 1:30, but check in at the Crater Lake Resort is 3;00.

So we went ahead and drove up to Crater Lake National Park.  There is still snow up here, but the temperature was in the high 60's.  The line to get in was clear to the highway, but we forged ahead.  Once we got closer to the gate, the park ranger informed us the park was full, and we would be able to get to the lake, but not be able to have enough room to turn around to come back down with the RV.  So, we decided to turn around there and come back to the resort and see if we could get in... long story short, they charged us an early check in of $15.00 for the 30 minutes.  Took the wind from our sails so to speak, but we didn't have a choice, since to get closest place was over 30 miles.  We paid the fee, and parked.  Expensive place, $12.00 for each dog, $44.00 for partial hook up, and $15.00early arrival, will not stay here again, too bad as it is a nice park.  On to the coast tomorrow, can't wait.

May getaway

We are traveling again!  It feels so good to be able to be on the road.

Tonight we are staying in Burns, Oregon, Burns RV.  Great place.  No masks are required, but the office is not open.  The host greets you on the patio outside.  We are just here overnight, will leave for Crater Lake tomorrow.
