So, I could not post yesterday, so am combining the last two nights.  We left Fort Robinson and headed to Devil's Tower. What a great wonder.  They say it is a spiritual place, and I believe it is possible.
We left there, and travelled all across Wyoming to Dubois for the night.  This  is more of a scenic drive, but the wind tried to blow us off the road in several places.  Thank goodness we have an anti-sway bar on the trailer or we would have found ourselves in the ditch.  There was a deer with a death wish, but we were able to avoid it.
We stayed at the Koa in Dubois, we were lucky to get a spot, but it was muddy, and there had been horses kept there.  Once we got settled, we found the bridge over Wind River was right behind us.  A little more noise than we were hoping for.
The drive home today was the same wind...but we took the Scenic Byway from Jackson Wyoming to MT Home, ID.  We had a few crazy drivers, but made it home safe and sound.  We are now looking towards the next adventure.

Today was a rather uneventful day. We went to Chadron for supplies, took the driving tour at Fort Robinson, and then got ready for the trip home.  Last night we had a huge thunder, lightning, rain, and hail storm, today the rain did not start, but the lightning was beautiful.  Time to call it a night...6:00 comes early.

Fort Robinson is our base this week, we spent the day exploring all of the museums, and the grounds within walking distance.  What a unique place.  It has been here since the 1700's as an Outpost, Crazy Horse was actually killed here.  The history is so diversified, I was fascinated by it all.  There is an exhibit of mammoths that had locked horns in battle and could not get apart, which are preserved here.  There is a reminder of the German POW camp,  A must see.

Today we went to Mt Rushmore, the full walk around the sculptures.  It was so incredible, well worth the trip.  We took an alternatrwy back, and got to see Crazy Horse. What a great day...one of the best days.

Sometimes you just have to check out the strange and unusual!  We went to Carhenge just outside of Alliance, NE. What a treat! The store owner was really fun to visit with, and the exhibit is really unique. There are even car capsules to be opened in the future, as well as a dinosaur, and a freaky fish.  This carhenge is modeled after the original Stonehenge, and can accurately show the seasonal soltice, but is made up of old cars.  It was about an hour drive from our spot in Fort Robinson.  What a fun day!

Today we had problems with the rig.  Our awning detached on one side, and we had issues with the sewer hose springing a leak! Good thing it was on the grey water instead of the black.  Husband was able to fix the awning, and we were able to buy a new hose.  One of the folding chairs bit the dust...ended up getting new one.  Between the water pump issue and these issues, we are a little frustrated, however, the site we are in here is amazing.  There is an open meadow behind us and are enjoying wildlife and birds of all kinds. The small town of Chadack is not too far, has a Walmart that we were able to get what we needed.  All in all, ended up a great day, had a wonderful meal, good company,.

We are in Rawlings, Wyoming on our way to Fort Robinson, Nebraska.  So far the drive has been uneventful.  We have seen a few wild horses, and antelope.  The scenery is different across Wyoming, more flat, the rock is like sandstone.  Staying at Wilderness Camp in Rawlings, it's clean, well kept, has a miniature golf course and restaurant near by.  Not bad.

The last leg.

Omg..we thought the drive would never end.  Got up to snow and ice this morning. The road a little dicey.  There was a stretch where the wind was blowing sidewys across the road, and the road was icy. A truck passes us caused us to almost be blown off the road. We managed to get through that stretch of road,  early.however, a truck threw rock and chipped the windshield...ugh. we encountered rain and snow along with high winds to the entire journey, but made it home in 12 hours.  Made for a long drive...now to get unloaded, all of our things put away, and get ready for work tomorrow.  5:00am does come early.

The travel back

We did not have with Fi for a couple of days....so, here is what we did Thursday and Friday:
Thursday we toured some of the park models available for sale, and the facilities.  There is a ton of things to do here included in the park fees/rent.  We attended the current production of "On The Border".  Really fun play, with dessert included.
Friday we left early and went to Old Tuson.  This is an all day event, but it was solo much fun.  We took the movie tour, rode the train around the park, saw a dancehall show, stuntmen demonstration, a scene from "The Hangman". Had lunch, and it was 4:00 before we knew it.  On the way back to the park, we drove through Saguaro National Park.  The scenery was just beautiful.  None of the cactus was in bloom, but fascinating all the same.

Today we headed back towards home.  The weather was not kind...has been snowing in the high country, and cold.  Stopped at Young's RV in Caliente, Nevada for the night.  Hope we get home between storms tomorrow.

Dwarf cars

Yesterday we spent hanging out with my family.  However, today we went to the dwarf car museum in the outskirts of Maricopa.  What a treat.  The cars were awesome, and the owners were super nice.  We just missed Jay Leno, he was there last week!  I had never seen a dwarf car before, and did not know what to expect.  The cars are miniature roadsters...not quite toy size, they all had motors , and sounded like drag cars.  What a fun time.

Day 2: .we stayed at a truck stop last night..close to the freeway and our next leg of the journey.  Since we didn't unhook from the truck, the trailer was tilted.  You could say we slept with our feet in the air!  We had 2 GPS/map systems going.  Needless to say, they did not agree😂
We did see some beautiful country along the way, and there were signs, and gas stations!  Made it to Casa Grande.  We now have water and power.  Life is good.

2018 Wanderings

Today we started out for Phoenix, Arizona.  The weather man had predicted snow for today.  Good thing he was wrong. We took a detour through Thousand Springs Scenic Highway bypassing Twin Falls headed to Jackpot, Nevada.  Nevada is a miserable State to drive through.  We had high winds that kept our rig from traveling the speed limit.  The thing about Nevada...if you see a gas station....STOP.  There are few places to get fuel.  Some of the town's listed on the map do not have fuel. It is not uncommon to go 200 miles or more between filling stations.  Today we traveled 12 hours on our journey.  We are parked at a Loves Truck Stop just outside the Freeway entrance where Highway 93 meets 15.
Our journey did gave some sightings...1very large gopher, and 2 coyotes.  The first coyote was standing next to the Highway and looked both ways before crossing.  Had to laugh at that.  The 2nd one had already crossed the highway.  Several places along the way there are deer crossings where the road goes under a bridge for the deer.  Quite unique.  Tomorrow is another day..should arrive in good time.
